Torrington hasn't had much luck against Wolcott recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wolcott will be up against a hot Torrington team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Raiders' pitchers stepped up to hand Wilby a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Sophia Pergola and Piper Battistoni were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Pergola pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Battistoni didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. At the plate, Pergola went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI, while Battistoni got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Torrington got a big performance out of Gracie Spring, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Brianna Delores also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Torrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .794. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. Wolcott was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Kennedy. 16 seems to be a good number for Wolcott as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Like Torrington, Wolcott also got a great game from a two-way player: Avery Malenfant. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Malenfant has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Gabby Romanauskas was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Belval, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Torrington's record is now 12-7. As for Wolcott, their record now sits at 13-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Torrington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wolcott struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Torrington might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Wolcott in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
