Rochester hasn't had much luck against Glenwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockets will square off against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Rochester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Rochester came up short against Coal City and fell 6-2.
Breck Calvert was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gibson Warren, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Glenwood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Cardinals. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly three runs.
Andrew Wahlbrink looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grady Mueller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Glenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Plains only posted a batting average of .259.
Glenwood pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Rochester hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Glenwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Rochester couldn't quite finish off Glenwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
