The Carrick Raiders will venture away from home to take on the North Catholic Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Carrick will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Carrick is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Perry Traditional Academy get on the board and left with a 21-0 win last Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Commodores: they've now won seven in a row.
Riley Mares was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Blake Andrews was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luzay Watson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Carrick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry Traditional Academy only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Obama Academy of International Studies with a sharp 11-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Trojans have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Carrick, North Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Landon Roedler. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Roedler was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Caden Williams looked comfortable as he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk).
Back at the plate, Ryker Kennedy and Matthew Madonna did most of the damage at the plate: Kennedy scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Madonna scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Madonna snagged this season. Marco Napolitano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
North Catholic pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Carrick, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Carrick suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to North Catholic when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
