Spring River Valley recap October 8, 2013
Jasper added to the longest winning streak in Spring River Valley this week by beating Pleasant Hope, 29-15. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Eagles.
Lockwood led the league in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on Liberal.
Greenfield's dynamic duo of Hunter Montez and Jacob Long proved to be unstoppable against Sarcoxie, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Montez threw for 81 yards and Long had 39 yards receiving. Lane Hankins helped Greenfield's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 25 yards.
Zach Renfro was a passing and rushing force as Diamond beat McAuley Catholic. Renfro's favorite target this week was Jake Goad, who caught 2 passes for 16 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Brodie Bien of the Wildcats is the league leader in passing yards this season with 717. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Zack Hyde. The Pierce City star has 20 catches for 325 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Diamond and the Wildcats face off next week.
An important game coming up in Spring River Valley this week will be when Jasper takes on Miller. At the moment, Richie Adkins' team is in first, while the Cardinals are in seventh.
Jimmy Dushane's team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,325 from 12,840. The improvement was largely due to a 26-6 victory over the Warriors last week.
