Basketball Recap: Drew Gets the Win

Drew was handed a 40-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over the Midtown Knights. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Drew considering their 22-point performance the game before.

Midtown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Devin Bockman, who posted 21 points and six boards, and Hailey Wortmann, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Bockman's fourth in a row with at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grail Johnson, who earned seven points and seven boards.

Drew is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for Midtown, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Drew has already played their next game (against Riverdale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Midtown, they will face off against Mays at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
