After losing to Kearny Christian Academy the last time they met, the Harmony Christian Hawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Harmony Christian made off with a 53-52 win over Kearny Christian Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harmony Christian.
Harmony Christian was led to victory by Edric Boateng and Benjamin Minton. Boateng dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals, while Minton dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Minton has scored at least a third of Harmony Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Seward, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Kearny Christian Academy lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being David Manzo, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bryan Garcia, who scored 13 points.
Harmony Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Kearny Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Harmony Christian will stay at home for another game and welcome Abundant Life Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Abundant Life Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Kearny Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on American Christian School at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
