Softball Recap: Solanco Makes It Ten in a Row on the Road

Solanco waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Fleetwood Tigers as they made off with a 16-5 victory. The Golden Mules might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kira Roark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Roark was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Fedoruk, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara DeFrancesco, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Solanco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Solanco's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fleetwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Solanco will host Donegal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Golden Mules surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fleetwood, they will be playing at home against Hamburg at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
