Basketball Recap: Alpine Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Alpine won the last time they faced Balmorhea and things went their way on Friday too. The Alpine Bucks blew past the Balmorhea Bears 51-31. The Bucks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Alpine found their leader in freshman Gyllian Morrissey, who posted 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. That's the most boards Morrissey has posted since back in November of 2024. Hope Dominguez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Alpine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 42 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Alpine is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Balmorhea, they moved to 13-10 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Alpine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-14 win against Tornillo on the 28th. As for Balmorhea, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-26 victory against Big Bend on the 28th.
