If the Luling Eagles were feeling good off their 35-11 takedown of the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Griffins last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Luling took a serious blow against Cole on Friday, falling 58-29. Luling has struggled against Cole recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Luling still got an impressive performance from Skylar Dredla, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Dredla scored 15 or more points.
It was another big night for Kamyra Childs, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Cole. Childs has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Dakota Gaston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Luling's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.2 points per game. As for Cole, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luling will face off against Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Randolph will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Cole, they will head out on the road to face off against Nixon-Smiley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Nixon-Smiley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1229th, while Cole is ranked 375th).
