 Cole Harper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those  nine  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  stolen base and one  run.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Swayze Reighert, who  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, two  RBI,  and one  double. Another player making a difference was  Dom Cucitrone, who  went 1-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Union Area  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in three consecutive  contests.
 Meanwhile, Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Saturday as the team picked up their 24th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They came up short against  Homer-Center, falling  15-0.
 Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Union Area, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
