The South Dade Buccaneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to Homestead 54-48. While losing is never fun, South Dade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Homestead is ranked 239th).
Homestead got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremiah Rodriguez out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Holmes, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
South Dade's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Homestead, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
South Dade will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21. As for Homestead, they will head out on the road to square off against Varela at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
