The Lafayette Generals will square off against the East Jessamine Jaguars at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lafayette has four straight wins, East Jessamine has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Lafayette beat Tates Creek 14-9.
The team relied heavily on Addison Combs, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierstyn Kelley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Combs wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Lafayette lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, East Jessamine lost 13-7 to Ballard on Friday.
Natalie Alimento led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Kylee Oliver was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average this season. As for East Jessamine, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Lafayette hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Jessamine struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lafayette came out on top in a nail-biter against East Jessamine when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Will Lafayette repeat their success, or does East Jessamine has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
