There's no place like home for the New Iberia Yellowjackets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They strolled past Barbe with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-33. Given New Iberia's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Barbe is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne Randall-bashay continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Otis Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
New Iberia is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Barbe, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Iberia will challenge Lafayette Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Barbe, they will head out on the road to take on Comeaux at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
