Softball Recap: Indiana School for the Deaf Comes Up Short

Indiana School for the Deaf came into this matchup off a tough 19-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Texas School for the Deaf Rangers by a score of 11-9 on Friday. The Deaf Hoosiers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Tiana Starayev was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Leokadia Saunders, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Indiana School for the Deaf and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Texas School for the Deaf, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.

Coincidentally, Indiana School for the Deaf and Texas School for the Deaf will both be playing California School for the Deaf-Riverside the next time they take the field. The Deaf Hoosiers will head out to face the Cubs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Rangers will play them later in the day, at 3:30 p.m.
