Basic is 6-1 against Arbor View since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will host the Aggies at 4:00 p.m. Basic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Green Valley, who was ranked 14th at the time (Basic was ranked first). The Wolves never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won three in a row.
The result came thanks to Noah Sebastian's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andruw Giles, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Troy Southisene was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Basic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Arbor View waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Mountain Lions by a score of 9-6. That's two games straight that the Aggies have won by exactly three runs.
Dasani Martin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Martin, who earned one RBI and two runs.
Arbor View pushed their record up to 17-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Basic, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
Everything went Basic's way against Arbor View in their previous meeting back in April, as Basic made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Aggies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
