This season hasn't been kind to the Crooms Academy Panthers, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were beaten by Legacy Charter 79-25 on Thursday. Crooms Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-23.
Despite the defeat, Crooms Academy saw an underclassman step up: Erin Hassaballah scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Zoe Fulgencio was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leading Legacy Charter to victory were Ashlyn Kraus and Mallory Daniels. Kraus scored 33 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Daniels dropped a double-double on 26 points and 21 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Daniels has scored at least 25% of Legacy Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Smith, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Crooms Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Legacy Charter, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crooms Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Orangewood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on December 15th. Orangewood Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Legacy Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
