Watseka hasn't had much luck against Herscher recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Watseka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Herscher will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Watseka extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 29-6 margin over South Newton. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Tyler Waugh was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Shervino, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
Watseka always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Herscher hadn't done well against Coal City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Coalers 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 1st.
Payten Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Logan Egerton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Gaige Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Herscher is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Watseka, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Watseka suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Herscher when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
