Neuse Charter is 0-10 against Rosewood since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Neuse Charter and Lakewood meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Leopards. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Connor Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Brayden Parr was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Neuse Charter: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-12 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Rosewood was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against South Lenoir by a score of 6-3. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Cuyler Jones looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Graham Lassiter, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Joseph Lund was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Neuse Charter's record now sits at 5-13. As for Rosewood, their record is now 16-8.
Neuse Charter might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Rosewood when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
