Greeley West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Schaller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Windsor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out George Washington 7-6. The win was familiar territory for the Wizards, who have now won four contests in a row.
Ethan Fillinger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Marcus Hull looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Eastin Hubbard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tripp Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Windsor pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Greeley West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
