Softball Recap: Rye Cove Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Rye Cove never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Grundy Golden Wave. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kenzie Hood, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Stanley, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Hood wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Rye Cove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Rye Cove pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Grundy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rye Cove will head out to square off against Holston at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grundy, they will venture away from home to challenge Ridgeview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
