After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison Central, Lafayette was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Montgomery County Indians. The Generals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.
Lafayette had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-27, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16.
Lexi Hensley paced Lafayette's offense, picking up 17 kills. Hensley got some help from Elise Trimble and her 30 assists. Trimble was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
With the win, Lafayette broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-3. As for Montgomery County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Lafayette and Henry Clay will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Montgomery County, they will square off against Madison Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
