There's no place like home for the Russell Broncos, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Trego 56-24 at home on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Russell's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Trego is ranked 96th).
Trego's loss came despite strong showings from Avery Ziegler and Reece Smith. Ziegler scored nine points along with five rebounds, while Smith scored six points along with four steals.
Russell's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Trego, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell will take on Smith Center at TBD on Thursday. Russell is facing Smith Center at the right time seeing as Smith Center is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Trego, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Norton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Friday.
