The victory was the fifth in a row for Cherokee, bringing their record up to 26-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsborough, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-12.
