Big Pine is 2-7 against Lone Pine since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Big Pine Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Lone Pine Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Big Pine is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Big Pine came up short against Trona and fell 53-46. Big Pine has struggled against Trona recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Big Pine saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Noah Ericson, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Adam Miller, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Lone Pine entered their tilt with Lee Vining with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Lone Pine really took it to Lee Vining for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-24 victory on the road. Lone Pine has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.
Alfonso Castro continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Dev Bhakta was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Big Pine's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lone Pine, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Big Pine was taken down by Lone Pine 57-29 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Big Pine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
