Mullen has gone a perfect 3-0 against Horizon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mustangs will square off against the Hawks at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mullen has three straight victories, Horizon has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mullen is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Erie, who was ranked 15th at the time (Mullen was ranked 17th). The Mustangs walked away with an 18-6 win over the Tigers on Friday.

Cole Parsons was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Mullen's success: when he posts at least 250 passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Nick Marcoux was in the mix too, providing the Mustangs with two TDs.
Mullen didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Erie to a completion percentage of just 22.7%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Owen Martin, Estevan Loya Jr., Montrey Lewis Jr, and Charlie Krza, who each logged one passes deflected. Mullen wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 60%.
Meanwhile, Horizon ended up a good deal behind Vista PEAK Prep on Thursday and lost 35-21. While the Hawks had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Bison 7-0.
Mullen will have to contain Xavier Hill as he made an impact in Horizon's last game. He picked up 60 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 54 yards.
Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Mullen, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Saturday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Mullen has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Horizon, though, as they've been averaging only 68.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything went Mullen's way against Horizon in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Mullen made off with a 40-14 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Hawks' Jeremiah Martinez, who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for the Mustangs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
