Cary Christian dropped their record down to 9-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Gaston Christian Eagles by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this match were averaging 3.33 runs allowed.

Samuel Snyder put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

Snyder wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Reeves, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

As for Gaston Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Gaston Christian's side, Noah Cooper was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Cooper has posted since back in March. Meridian Leffew was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cary Christian and Gaston Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Knights will face off against GRACE Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (182 vs. 443). Meanwhile, Gaston Christian (ranked 35th) will meet SouthLake Christian Academy (ranked 272nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
