Softball Game Preview: Brownsboro Bears vs. Mabank Panthers

The Brownsboro Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Mabank Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mabank took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Brownsboro, who comes in off a win.

Brownsboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Kemp on Tuesday as Brownsboro made off with a 15-4 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bears with their most commanding win of the season.

Taylor Templeton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Arabella Lowrance was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 3-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Aubree McKinney also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triples of the season.

Brownsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Mabank was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens. Even if the Panthers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Callie Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Hayli Gerkin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Mabank's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Brownsboro, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7-2 record.

Brownsboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Mabank in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Brownsboro repeat their success, or does Mabank have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
