The Carthage Tigers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Sparta Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Carthage lost to Central at home by a decisive 74-55 margin. The loss was Carthage's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Sparta put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 84-70 win over Ash Grove. Sparta's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Sparta had a senior duo take command as Jacob Lafferty dropped a double-double on 37 points and 20 rebounds and Walker Loveland scored 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Lafferty has scored at least 25% of Sparta's points. Leeanthoney Mayes was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Carthage's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Sparta, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
