Basketball Game Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Keswick Christian Crusaders

It was a proper cat-fight when Academy of the Holy Names faced off against Bell Creek Academy on Tuesday. Academy of the Holy Names fell to Bell Creek Academy 58-53.

Despite the loss, Academy of the Holy Names had strong showings from Jaye Coleman, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 12 rebounds, and ten blocks, and Gabriella Teixeira, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Teixeira a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Scott, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Academy of the Holy Names smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Meanwhile, Keswick Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Palm Harbor University on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Keswick Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Academy of the Holy Names, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
