After a string of ten wins, the Walthill Blujays's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 57-46 to Tri County Northeast. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Walthill came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Tri County Northeast is ranked 208th).
Despite the loss, Walthill had strong showings from Adrian Phillips, who scored 16 points, and Ethan Parker, who scored 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri County Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Belt, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. Ben Jorgensen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Walthill's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1. As for Tri County Northeast, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walthill will take on Winside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Winside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. As for Tri County Northeast, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pender is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game.
