Baseball Recap: Omaha Central Takes a Loss

Omaha Central and Papillion-LaVista South pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played Papillion-LaVista South, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Eagles fell just short of the Titans by a score of 2-1. The Eagles have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Boe Di Lorenzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Omaha Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Omaha Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Yuhas-Vining, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Omaha Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Omaha Central is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln North Star at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista South will take on rival Bellevue West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 3.1, the Thunderbirds 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
