Baseball Recap: Family Community Christian Wins Going Away Against Vidalia

Family Community Christian not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Vidalia Vikings. The result was nothing new for Family Community Christian, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Kyler Roberts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Gavin Griffing was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Cottingham, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Family Community Christian's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Vidalia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Family Community Christian will face off against Franklin Parish at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin Parish will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Family Community Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vidalia, they will challenge Union Parish at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
