Billerica Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Methuen Rangers. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rangers 25-21 in the first set.
Billerica Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-21.
Kendra Marino paced Billerica Memorial's offense, picking up 17 kills. Marino got some help from Meghan Downs and her 28 assists. Jenna Krinopol controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Methuen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kathryn Driend, who had 11 digs, three aces, and two blocks. What's more, Driend posted four kills, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Caylee O'Brien was another key player, getting 12 kills, eight digs, two aces, and one block.
Billerica Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Methuen, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Billerica Memorial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Chelmsford on the 22nd. As for Methuen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Haverhill on the 22nd.
