Poston Butte had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-13 to make it six. They lost 12-1 to the Bradshaw Mountain Bears. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Broncos couldn't push the score so high this time.
Danlad Kasim made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
As for Bradshaw Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On Bradshaw Mountain's side, Sammy Villafana made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Villafana also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bradshaw Mountain is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-12 otherwise. Villafana was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Hayden Combs looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Young, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Bradshaw Mountain is 4-2 when Young posts two or more runs, but 8-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Lockwood, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
As of now, neither Poston Butte nor Bradshaw Mountain have any future games scheduled.
