The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). Everything went their way against Covenant Academy as Academy for Classical Education made off with a 68-43 victory. That's another feather in the cap for Academy for Classical Education, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Academy for Classical Education's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryson Vincent , who scored 16 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Davis , who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Covenant Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucas Fisher, who scored 11 points, and Ryan Stevens who scored 5 points along with 13 rebounds. Stevens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Academy for Classical Education's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Covenant Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy for Classical Education will take on Pike County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pike County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday. As for Covenant Academy, they will be playing at home against First Presbyterian Day at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
