The Tavares Bulldogs had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against First Academy by a score of 58-49 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Tavares, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, First Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Norflee scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Rhett Walsh was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Tavares' win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for First Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Tavares and Trinity Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for First Academy, they will be playing at home against St. John Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully St. John Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
