The Riverside Prep Silver Knights will venture away from home to take on the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Riverside Prep will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Riverside Prep beats Rancho Cucamonga with 18 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Silver Knights beat Hesperia Christian on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-1. Considering the Silver Knights have won eight matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Villegas looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Victor Herrera was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trent Bourgeois, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Riverside Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Rancho Cucamonga's offense. They fell 3-0 to Maranatha on Wednesday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Rancho Cucamonga also got a good showing from Justin Stansbury, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
On the hitting side, Rancho Cucamonga saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Peyton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Riverside Prep's record is now 11-4. As for Rancho Cucamonga, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Riverside Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rancho Cucamonga struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.4 strikeouts.
