The Dove Creek Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Ridgway for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-31 win at home. The victory was familiar territory for Dove Creek who now have five in a row.
Dove Creek was led to victory by Ralynn Hickman and Kylie Gatlin. Hickman scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Gatlin scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gatlin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Halee Beanland, who scored three points along with four steals.
Ridgway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Miller, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Scranton, who scored six points along with five steals.
Dove Creek pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.18 points. As for Ridgway, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dove Creek will take on Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Monticello is ranked 123rd in Utah, while Dove Creek is ranked 113th in Colorado). As for Ridgway, they will head out on the road to challenge Mancos at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
