Given Union Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while McEachern is ranked 45th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Union Grove can attribute much of their success to Alexis Parson, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Jordan Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
When it comes to explaining why McEachern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tamia Polk. Despite the final result, she scored 9 points. Another player making a difference was Latamyra Williams, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Union Grove's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for McEachern, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Union Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Jones County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. McEachern will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pebblebrook at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
