Cambridge Springs' hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matches, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cambridge Springs managed to slip by Rocky Grove the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Devils came up short against the Orioles on Thursday, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Devils have lost by exactly ten runs.
Brett Kania made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Sharpsville came into Thursday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Wilmington on Thursday. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lincoln Breit was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Breit was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Jared Bissell and Gabe Titus did most of the damage at the plate: Bissell went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Titus got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits Bissell has posted since back in May of 2024. Journey Cornelius also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Sharpsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Cambridge Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Sharpsville, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7.
