CREIGHTON, Mo. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Drexel (Mo.) held on for a 12-6 victory over
Sherwood (Creighton, Mo.) on Saturday. The difference for the Bobcats was that
Ansen Swoger ran for a touchdown.
After trailing 6-0 at the half, the Marksmen went ahead on a
Brett Nigh touchdown run with less than a minute remaining in the third. Drexel finally took the lead for the win when Swoger ran for a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter.
Sherwood's lone touchdown came on a 10-yard run by Nigh in the third quarter.
Coming into the game DHS had allowed 26.2 points per game this year. The Bobcats held firm on the defensive front, and kept Sherwood well below the 14.8 points it had been averaging per game.
A 27-25 Drexel victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Sherwood (0-6) will play a non-conference game against Adrian next week, while Drexel (5-2) will take on Summit Christian Academy also in a non-conference game.
