The Santaluces Chiefs and the Monarch Knights squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Santaluces Chiefs had to settle for second. They were the victim of a rough 50-27 defeat at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, Santaluces can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Monarch is ranked 45th).
When it comes to explaining why Santaluces lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamar Browder. Despite the final result, he picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aj Hairston, who rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 185 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes. Demarcus Pierre and his 137 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Monarch's win.
Santaluces' loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Monarch, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Santaluces does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Monarch's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th.
