Alexander Central's return to the top of the Xcellent 25 National Softball Rankings lasted one week thanks to Porter Ridge.
In the sectional round of the North Carolina 4A playoffs, Porter Ridge upended the defending state champions, 1-0 to advance to the regional round. In doing so, Porter Ridge handed Cougar pitcher Chelsea Wilkinson, the winningest pitcher in state history, just her sixth career loss (122-6).
Porter Ridge remains undefeated on the season at 29-0 and will play either North Davidson or Southeast Guilford.
With Alexander Central losing, Amador Valley (Pleasanton, Calif.) moves to the No. 1 spot. The Dons are undefeated on the season at 24-0 and secured the No. 1 seed for the North Coast Section playoffs, which begin this week.

Victoria Molina had a home run and a double in an 8-0 win over Livermore. In a 13-0 win over Foothill (Pleasanton),

Johanna Grauer and Molina each had a double. The Dons have a bye in the first round of the North Coast Section playoffs and will play either Livermore or Santa Rosa in the second round.
2. (3) Keystone (La Grange, Ohio), 28-0
Defeated Firelands 4-0 to advance to the regional semifinals. Keystone has set a state record this year with 43 home runs. Will play Clear Fork (Bellville) in the regional semifinal.
3. (6) Norco (Calif.), 28-2
Defeated Great Oak 3-2 in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs and then ousted Etiwanda 2-0 in the second round.
4. (7) Pacifica (Garden Grove, Calif.), 28-2
Defeated Rosary 7-0 in the first round of the Southern Section Division I playoffs and then edged Royal (Simi Valley) 2-0 in the second round.
5. (8) Walla Walla (Wash.), 23-1
Alyson Ambler struck out 19 batters in a 4-0 no-hitter against Mead and then topped Richland 8-2 to capture the 4A Eastern Regional championship.
6. (9) The Woodlands (Texas), 30-4
The Highlanders advanced to the regional final with a 7-0 win over Temple. The Woodlands will play Klein Collins this week.
7. (10) Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, N.C.), 29-0
Defeated TC Roberson 3-0 and then knocked off defending state champion Alexander Central 1-0 in the sectional round.

The
Cougars saw their season end with a 1-0 loss to Porter Ridge in the
North Carolina 4A sectional round. In a 6-0 win over McDowell in the
second round, Wilkinson had 16 strikeouts. She picked up her 84th career
shutout the next game with an 11-0 win over Hough.
9. (11) Northern (Owings, Md.), 24-0
Won three times last week, beating Thomas Stone 4-0, Chopticon 10-1 and Huntingtown 1-0. Also beat Reservoir in the Class 3A state semifinals on Tuesday by a score of 7-2. Jess Cummings struck out 11. Northern has won 52 straight games and will go for its fifth straight state championship against Linganore on Saturday.
10. (4) Beech (Hendersonville, Tenn.), 49-2
At the regional tournament, Beech beat Northeast 8-0, but it lost to Mt. Juliet 9-5 to end a 41-game win streak. Bounced back to beat Ravenwood 8-2 and played Arlington in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday.
11. (12) Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), 26-2
Defeated Presentation 10-0 in the first round of the Central Coast Section playoffs.
Vanessa Alvarez tossed a no-hitter with three strikeouts and two walks.
Jazmyn Jackson had two doubles and three RBI for the Monarchs.
12. (13) El Diamante (Visalia, Calif.), 30-1
Defeated Clovis 5-0 in first round of Central Section playoffs.
Sierra Hyland struck out six for the win and
Katy McJunkin had a pair of doubles.
13. (14) Plano East (Plano, Texas), 34-3
Plano East had little trouble with Coronado, winning 9-0 and 13-1 to advance to the Regional Final against Hebron.

Ashleigh Hinshaw each had a double in the first game with Anthony adding two in the second.
Sarah Morales also had a home run.

Arizona Division I champion. Season over.
15. (17) Poland Seminary (Poland, Ohio), 22-2
Defeated Canfield 8-1 in the district final.
Erin Gabriel had 15 strikeouts in the win. The Bulldogs will take on Woodridge (Peninsula) in the regional semifinal.

Defeated Flint Hill 13-0, St. Stephen's/St. Agnes 6-0 and Nansemond-Suffolk 3-0.
Tori Finucane struck out 12 in the 3-0 win, 16 in the 6-0 shutout and had eight against Flint Hill.
