Basketball Game Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Field Falcons

Cloverleaf and Field are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Cloverleaf Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Field Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cloverleaf is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.

Cloverleaf is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Woodridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Cloverleaf was the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over Woodridge on Tuesday. Given the Colts' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cloverleaf's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsey Bayer, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points and four steals. Those 15 points gave Bayer a new career-high. Emma Hibler was another key player, as she made all 8 shots she took for 18 points.

Cloverleaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Field waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-42 win over the Blazers.

Field has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Cloverleaf, their record is now 13-4.

Cloverleaf and Field were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Cloverleaf came up empty-handed after a 44-43 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Field's Delilah Rahe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. Now that Cloverleaf knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
