Wyomissing has gone 8-2 against Schuylkill Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Wyomissing will challenge Schuylkill Valley at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Wyomissing fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Schuylkill Haven on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 11-10. The Spartans have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Parker LaFerriere was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. LaFerriere was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Noah Rauenzahn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Graham, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schuylkill Valley). They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over Antietam on Monday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Like Wyomissing, Schuylkill Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Salinger Kehs-Rossi. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Kehs-Rossi was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Logan Nawrocki was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Dimitrios Aletras was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Schuylkill Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Schuylkill Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wyomissing, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Wyomissing took their victory against Schuylkill Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wyomissing since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
