Muhlenberg is 0-2 against Ephrata since August of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Muhlenberg Muhls will look to defend their home field against the Ephrata Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. Muhlenberg comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-7, which was the final score in Muhlenberg's tilt against Warwick on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Muhlenberg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Warwick is ranked 177th).
Meanwhile, even though Twin Valley scored an imposing 33 points on Friday, Ephrata still came out on top. Ephrata strolled past Twin Valley with points to spare, taking the game 52-33. 52 seems to be a good number for Ephrata as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ephrata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angel Collazo-Colon, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 44 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Sam McCracken was another key contributor, rushing for 25 yards and two touchdowns.
Ephrata's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Quintin Pfautz and his two sacks.
Muhlenberg has been struggling this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight contests, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season. As for Ephrata, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Muhlenberg was taken down by Ephrata 42-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Muhlenberg, Andre Weidman (who rushed for 148 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
