The Fishers Tigers will challenge the Zionsville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fishers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Fishers barely beat Mt. Vernon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Marauders 16-4 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Adrianne Cook was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kendall Jordan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fishers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Vernon only posted an OBP of .387.
Meanwhile, Zionsville hadn't done well against Harrison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Raiders since May 24, 2016.
The result came thanks to Leah Helton's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zionsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadley Bray, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Fishers pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Zionsville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fishers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Zionsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fishers beat Zionsville 4-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
