Even though the Science Hill Hilltoppers scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, the Northeast Vikings still came out on top. Northeast took their matchup against Science Hill 66-58. The win was all the more spectacular given Northeast's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 263rd in Florida, while Science Hill is ranked 114th in Tennessee).
Northeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Brown, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamaries Conyers, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Northeast and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Science Hill, they bumped their record down to 7-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season.
Northeast won't have much time to rest: their next game is against James River Midlothian at 2:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. James River Midlothian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Northeast likes a good challenge. Science Hill won't have much time to rest: their next match is against King at 11:20 a.m. on December 29, 2023. King is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
