Christian is a perfect 5-0 against Crawford since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Patriots will host the Colts at 5:30 p.m. Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Point Loma, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots put the hurt on the Pointers with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday.
While Christian won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-22, 25-19.
McKade Mathson was the offensive standout of the match as he had 16 digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, Crawford came up short against San Ysidro on Tuesday and fell 3-1.
Crawford came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24.
Despite the loss, Crawford saw an underclassman step up: freshman John Brown had 11 digs and one assist.
Crawford's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Christian, they pushed their record up to 16-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Christian has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Crawford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Christian took their win against Crawford in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
