Independence will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Maquoketa at 7:30 PM. The match looks good for Independence since they are the big favorites in the MaxPreps state rankings.
Independence took the game and then some with a 54-0 victory last Friday.
Meanwhile, Maquoketa might have drawn first blood against Central Clinton/Calamus-Wheatland, but it was Central Clinton/Calamus-Wheatland who got the last laugh. Maquoketa lost to Central Clinton/Calamus-Wheatland by a decisive 27-46 margin.
Independence's win lifted them to 2-0 while Maquoketa's defeat dropped them down to 0-2. We'll see if Independence's success rolls on or if Maquoketa are able to steal their positive momentum.
